About Me

As you read through the articles on this website, it’s my goal to provide complete tutorials for you to use when creating your own projects. If you’re new to Cricut and feel intimidated or confused…this site is for you. If you’ve tried following other tutorials but still feel like you’re missing pieces of the process…this site is for you. Believe me. I’ve been in your shoes. This site is dedicated to people like you that just want to know “how to do the thing”. I’ll provide a detailed process in each article that will help you avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made and mistakes I’ve seen others make over the years.

Hello, my name is Vicki and I’m a wife, mother, dog mom and homeowner. Over the years, I’ve really enjoyed working on various projects around the house or creating personalized gifts. Sometimes it was out of necessity and sometimes it was sheer curiosity that led me to remodel, redo or create pieces for my home. There’s something incredibly satisfying when you see something you create not only come to life, but create everlasting memories each time you see it.

My husband and I are avid DIYers and over the years we’ve remodeled bathrooms; installed a variety of flooring; painted walls and ceilings; installed decks and patios; installed windows; changed out lighting and a lot of other projects common to homeownership. In many cases, that was the easy part of the project. I can’t tell you how many times we finished a project and then I got stuck for months trying to accessorize the space. I’ve spent countless hours shopping in person and online to find the right piece based on certain dimensions, colors, or a particular “look and feel”. All of this, while ensuring it didn’t cost an arm and a leg!

Over the years, I’ve been able to find pieces that are “close enough” to what I’m looking for and, after a few tweaks here and there, make it a piece that fits perfectly in our space. I’ve really enjoyed walking through my home and remembering what it took to get the piece over the finish line. Most times those memories bring a smile to my face and other times I just laugh remembering the frustration of something not fitting right, but then the moment of triumph when we got it to work right! Other times I optimistically recall all the lessons I learned with a particular project, which were learned and earned the hard way.

Fast forward to a couple of years ago. I loved my day job; however, it felt like something was missing. I realized that my creative side wasn’t being explored enough. On a whim, I bought my first Cricut machine. It was a deal that was too good to pass up and, in retrospect, it was worth so much more. It became crystal clear that my creative side was a little stagnant when I took on my first Cricut project. Working on the project (very simple canister labels), I realized how much I enjoyed the process and the decisions that I was making. As silly as it sounds, I still smile each time I look at those canisters.

I created this site as a way to share the projects I enjoy making. The process of crafting has many facets. It can be soothing, relaxing, exciting, invigorating….but it can also be frustrating and somewhat humbling. I’ll do my best to keep it real with you. There may be some failures that appear, but I hope you will see them the way that I do…as learning opportunities. If nothing else, I hope you gain the confidence and knowledge to just try something new or make something from your own imagination. Building a solid foundation of knowledge, you can explore your own creative side and create a life you love…one project at a time.

If you have any comments, questions or ideas of what you’d like to see in future articles, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to drop me a line.

Cheers,

Vicki
